Abstract
Background:There are no doubt those sexual relations, without the appropriate preparation, in teenagersthey are related to non-planned pregnancies and to sexual transmitted diseases. Up to this date there havenot been published informsabout the sexual behavior in college students in the city of Santa Marta.Object:To know, in a descriptive way, the Sexual Behavior of the students of a medicine program in universityof the city.Method:A poll about sexual behavior to 250 college students. It was a transversal descriptive type ofinvestigation.Results:There were 138 female (55.2%) and 112 male (44.8%) for a total of 250 students. They werebetween 16 and 24 yeas of age, with an age average of 18.6 years (out of 1.6). 114 (45.6%) studentsinformed they had had sexual relations. The age average for starting sexual relations is 16 (out of 2.1).Those who informed they had penetrative relations, 109 (95.6%) said it was with an opposite sex partner,and 5 (4.4%) with a same sex partner. Throughout the last six months 73 (60%) students affirm they havehad coitus penetrative relation and 62 (54.4%) students say they use contraceptive and 52 (45.6%) do notuse a contraceptive at all despite having an active sexual life.Conclusions:45.6% of the students have had sexual relations some time in their lives, and this samepercentage use a contraceptive method in their first sexual relation. The average age for the first sexualrelation is 16. The 54.6% of those who have an active sexual life use a contraceptive and prevention method.Downloads
