Abstract
Diabetes is characterized by high glucose blood levels. It can be caused by a decreased production of insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas in order to regulate sanguineous sugar, by a resistance to this hormone, or both. In order to begin the study of this pathology that affects 194 million people in the world, according to the International Federation of Diabetes, it is necessary to study the morphologic and embryologic aspects of the pancreas. The pancreas is a mixed gland, it has both exocrine and endocrine secretion. The «pancreatic juice», or exocrine secretion is spilled in the duodenum by the main pancreatic duct or Wirsung duct and by the accessory pancreatic duct, the Santorini duct. The endocrine secretion, the insulin, is spilled into the blood and has an essential action in glucose metabolism.Downloads
