Abstract

Ameloblastoma is one of the most aggressive and destructive benign tumors locally in the maxillofacial region, able to generating large facial deformations in a short period. Within its classification, the unicystic variant is considered the least aggressive and allows a conservative management of this pathology. It is not frequent in children and the criteria for surgical treatment in childhood are controversial, due to the risk of recurrence when practicing conservative methods. An unusual case of unicystic ameloblastoma is located in the anterior region of the lower jaw. This type of lesions occurs mainly in young adults, mainly in the second decade of life and in this case, was presented in a 12-years-old girl. The lesion was managed conservatively with a follow-up of four years, since it did not present a recurrence.
