Abstract
This manuscript presents the process and results of a research study aimed at identifying how entrepreneurship is integrated with the substantive functions of Higher Education Institutions in the Urabá region (Antioquia). The research follows a qualitative approach, with the analysis of two methods: phenomenology and hermeneutics. Semi-structured interviews are used as data collection technique. The participants were six higher education institutions in the Urabá region. The results reveal that entrepreneurship should be considered as a transversal axis, among the three substantive functions: research, teaching, and outreach. It is concluded that entrepreneurship is an opportunity to generate social, economic and academic transformation and impact in the region. It is recommended to strengthen the ties between entrepreneurship and the basic substantive functions of higher education,allowing visibility to the new productive units in the Urabá Antioqueño region.References
