Abstract

In this article it is highlight the importance of transdisciplinary research (TDR) for the understanding and solution of urgent contemporary problems. In order to promote a better understanding of this, here are presented 16 characteristics that, according to the author´s opinion, distinguish it from other approaches to research. are presented. Finally, it is clarified that the TDR is not contrary to the disciplinary investigation, but rather complementary to it.
