Population density and phenotype plasticity of chilli pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) c.v. cayene long slim

Abstract

The objective in the present research was to evaluate the effect of the population density on phenotype plasticity of chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) cultivar Cayenne, in the Mid Sinu River Valley (Cordoba, Colombia). A complete-randomized-block design was used with three replicates per treatment. Data on plant height (PH), stem diameter (SD), leaf number (LN), leaf area (LA), stem dry mass (SDM), leaves dry mass (LDM), fruit dry mass (FDM) and total dry mass (TDM) per plant were collected and analyzed. Phenotypic plasticity was affected by treatments, since significant effect of plant population was detected on SD, LA and LN, PH was less plastic. SDM, LDM, FDM and MTD per plant decreased as plant population was increased
