Example: Master’s in economics, PhD Finance, etc. and with proven experience (publication of scientific articles in refereed journals) in the world science stadiums.

This information must be sent to the Open Journal System, in which you must previously register and send from there the article and the formats that may be downloaded from the Journal page http://revistas.unimagdalena.edu.co/index.php/clioamerica/index

As an alternative option, these may be received via email (revistaclioamerica@unimagdalena.edu.co) and in the same way, the formats may be downloaded from the Journal page http://revistas.unimagdalena.edu.co/index.php/clioamerica/index

               4. The articles submitted to the journal must contain the following guidelines in the content:

Forms of presentation of the article:

4.1 Original: the length of the papers presented will depend on the type of article accepted in the Journal, with single line spacing, on letter size paper, in Times New Roman 12 font, including the cover, tables and figures, notes and bibliographic references and margins of 2 cm on all sides.

4.2 Title in English and Spanish: avoid acronyms and abbreviations, it must be explanatory and must include the essence of the work and must not exceed a maximum of 20 words, the title must be written in Spanish and English. 3Universidad del Magdalena. Colombia. Correo: xxxxxx@gmail.com. Orcid: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Declaration on conflict of interest

The articles will include before the bibliographic references and as a main title a declaration in which the authors will state that they are independent with respect to the funding and support institutions, and that during the execution of the work or the writing of the manuscript there have not been any interests or values different from those usually found in research. Only manuscripts in which the authors have no conflicts of interest will be considered.

In some cases it will be necessary for the authors to specify the supports received (financial, equipment, work personnel, in kind, etc.) from people or public or private institutions for the study, as well as the personal or institutional relationships that they can influence the driving, the results, the interpretation of them and the writing of the article.

Contribution of the Authors

Each of the authors and co-authors must express and / or record at the end of the article their contribution in the document.

To cite this article: you must indicate the way to quote the article.

Example:

Barbosa, P. E., Gómez, R. D. y Leuro, G. J. (2015). Ecology and bioeconomy. The dialogue of knowledge. Clío América, 11(21), 108-119. http://dx.doi.org/10.21676/23897848.2086

4.5 Extension. The article must be adapted according to the article's latipology.

4.6 Summary. This is written in the third person, in the present time and in Spanish. Should present the question that the text answers, the framework or assumed theoretical perspective, the methodology employed, the conclusions and future lines of research. Must have an extension minimum of 150 and maximum of 200 words. They must be presented accurately and briefly, without extend into unnecessary data and into a single paragraph. They should not contain tables, figures or references. Your objective is to accurately reflect the content of the article.

4.7 Abstract: Summary in English.

4.8 Footnes. They will be used to clarify or provide additional information; they should not be used for bibliographic references, as these will be implicit within the body of the text and cannot exceed the three lines.

4.9 Bibliographic references. At the end of the manuscript to complete list of all the Bibliographical references, which will be arranged alphabetically by the last name of the first author of each citation of the document and the initial of the first name, French with blood (interlineado1,5). The accuracy Bibliographic references are the responsibility of the authors, in the same way, as far as possible each of them must carry their link, which should redirect to the referenced document.

4.10 For bibliographic references. Clío América uses the standards of the last version (APA), these must at the end of the article, in alphabetical order.

4.11 Keywords in Spanish and English (keywords). Description of work content using (4 to 5) keywords. At the end of the summary will be presented in English and Spanish separated by semicolon (;), these must be referenced according to the corresponding theme, in accordance with the codes established for international searches of bibliographic production in the system of JEL

4.12 Journal of Economic Literature (JEL Classification). Guide to classification codes of articles), the codes must be specific and no more than three. This classification can be consulted at: https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php and will be included in the Letter of Intent.

4.13 Introduction. An updated review of the literature relevant to the work should be presented (properly referenced sources), to support the work hypothesis and show the proposed objectives.

4.14 Methodology. The main materials should be included, clearly and concisely, as well as also the methods applied. A method should not be described if it is already described in the literature; It is enough to present the bibliographic description. If you use an edited method, you must clearly.

4.15 Results. The results must be presented clearly and precisely, including tables, figures and, in necessary case, statistical analysis.

4.16 Discussion. The results must be contrasted with the knowledge registered in the literature, highlighting the contribution of the article for the understanding of the subject. The conclusions that they must be consistent and related to the exposed results.

4.17 Tables. The maximum number of tables in the article is four and these should not exceed the size of a page.

4.18 Figures. Specifically descriptive headline and the source should go immediately to the part below, be cited in the text, the abbreviations and symbols explained at the bottom of the figure and indicate the source

The maximum number of figures in the article is four and with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

4.19 Conclusion. It is recommended that all the articles and especially the research ones present the conclusions making reference to the most relevant results, the objectives and the research problems. In this section can also raise new research horizons or recommendations for future investigations. Where possible, the use of citations in this item should be avoided.

4.20 The bibliographical references. At the end of the content of the article should be included the list of references (Bibliography), in alphabetical order (including commas, parentheses, periods, capitals and italics), following the citation and style guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA), latest version.

4.21 Mathematical symbols must be very clear and legible. The sub-indexes and supra-indexes they must be correctly located. In addition, formulas must be numbered within the text.

Remember that all bibliographic references must be correctly cited within the body of the article and vice versa. It is necessary to consider the following rules:

    • All citations in the text with three or more authors are shortened to the name of the first author plus «et al.».

    • It is no longer necessary to put the location (city) of a book publisher in the reference.

    • The number of authors included in a reference has changed; up to 20 authors must be included before names are omitted.

    • The "DOI:" tag is no longer used, and the words "Retrieved from" are used only when there is a required retrieval date.

    • The author's note includes more information, such as ORCID ID, disclosure of conflicts of interest or lack thereof, among others (APA, 2020).

Quotations in the Text: It is recommended to follow the examples for citations.

  • When the citation corresponds to a document written by a single author, it will be cited as follows:

García (2011) states: “This means that, in a certain sense, what happens to us instantly affects things in the far reaches of the universe, (...). In some way…. (p. 153).

This means that, in a sense, what happens to us instantly affects things in the far reaches of the universe, ... In a sense…. (García, 2011, p. 153).

When a source has two authors, their surnames are separated by "and" in both narrative and parenthetical citations. This is a proposal for adaptation to Spanish.

  • García and Méndez (2017) state that...
  • ... it is necessary to make these considerations (Otzen and Manterola, 2017).
  • Ravenhill and De Visser (2018) postulate in their theory that...

- When there are three or more authors, the surname of the first is cited followed by “et al.” (meaning “and others”) from the first citation.

• Morrison et al. (2015) state that gender diversity...
• ... an egalitarian perspective between genders (Morrison et al., 2015).

Table 1. Citations according to number of authors

Source: own elaboration.

  • If an Author has participated as the author of more than one book with different authors in the same year, as presented in the following example:
    • Rodríguez, Suárez, Masiero, Tabarez and Couto, 2010
    • Rodríguez, Suárez, Soto, Calandria, and Figueredo, 2010

  • The Solution in this case, is always to write the names of the authors as far as it is possible to distinguish the list of authors to which you refer. In this case, the following:
•Rodríguez, Suárez, Masiero et al., 2010
•Rodríguez, Suárez, Soto et al., 2010
  • Quotes within quotes: Do not omit quotes that are in the original material you are quoting. Citations within citations do not need to be included in the reference list (unless you cite them as primary sources elsewhere in your article).
  • "In Argentina, the Argentine Society of Prostate Cancer (2003) stated that around 1 000 cases could be diagnosed early, which would increase the chance of survival by 80%" (Soto et al., 2005, p. 198).

4.22 The article should be carefully reviewed to verify that the authors' names are written, and the year are exactly the same in the text and in the list of references, taking into account the APA rules.

Use the following format in the bibliography to cite the references:

Diagramming the contents:  Once the articles have been reviewed, the editor must take the decision of what content will be published in the number. Having the approved items, another stage comes in which the contents are passed by a form correction; this stage can also contemplate the translation of title, keywords and summaries, and the final art of the number, especially for the case of printed journals. In the case of online journals, the graphic aspect must also be taken care of, since the contents must be in accordance with the graphic line of the journal's website and the previous issues. Finally, content must be prepared for the different indexes or databases where the journal is included.

Structuring Tables, Figures, Texts and Numbers: To facilitate the standardization of standards and be uniforms in certain editorial processes, in addition to facilitating the design and layout phases, it establishes that every scientific journal of the university must accept the following internal rules regarding tables, figures, graphs, texts and numbers, like this:

Boards

  • They must be produced in a MS Word or MS Excel table processor with the same source and one point less than the text. Do not use the space bar or the tab key.
  • The tables should be numbered and cited according to their sequence in the text, in correlative order with Arabic numerals and they will have a descriptive and brief legend in the upper part, which will be the reference of the table. It is recommended that the legend be clear and informative, in order to avoid consulting the text to understand the table.
  • Each table must be inserted in the body of the manuscript and the content of it must be concise and summarized.
  • The information presented in the tables should not appear repeated in the figures.
  • The headings of the columns should be brief, but explanatory. Use bold only in headings (horizontal and vertical). The standard abbreviations of the units of measure should be placed in parentheses.
  • Vertical and horizontal lines should be used to separate the columns and rows. The cells will not carry colors.
  • Any additional explanation for the understanding of the table should be provided as a footnote.
  • When the text is on the left side of the table it should be aligned to the left side, if it is on the right side it is justified, just like when the table contains only text.
  • When the numbers are on the left side of the table they should be aligned in the central position, if they are on the right side they should be aligned to the right and when the table contains only numbers they will be centered.
  • List of the legends of the figures

– • Like the tables, the figures should be inserted in the body of manuscript sequentially.

– • Bold should not be used and both lowercase and uppercase letters will be accented.

- • It is recommended that the legends be informative so that the reader does not need to consult the text to understand what the figure shows.

- • It is recommended that the explanations or descriptions that are considered necessary be written in the same legend to avoid text within the figures.

Figures

  • The figures (drawings, maps, sheets, diagrams, computer graphics and photographs) must be sent in independent files, in high-quality digital graphic format (tiff, bmp, jpg or gif), with a resolution minimum of 300 dpi. If possible, it is recommended to send vector graphic files or failing Send the original editable file in MS Excel.
  • The name of the file corresponding to the figure will be that of the first author followed by the number of the figure, López fig.1.jpg.
  • Each of the figures must be editable.
  • The figures will be numbered with Arabic numerals according to their sequence of appearance in the text.
  • The figures must be designed taking into account the format of the page of the journal. Its original size must allow a 50% reduction, without loss of clarity.
  • Composite figures with several images will be listed consecutively. Example: Figure 1a, 1b, 1c, etc. The Drawings must have a comparative scale to determine the increase.
  • The figures must be presented in a single plane (Do not use 3D effects), without horizontal lines and with a box on the outside.
  • Use the same type of font (Times New Roman 12 pts) in all illustrations and follow the style of the journal.

Abbreviations

  • They are written the first time they appear in parentheses, complete and in their language of origin. The use of acronyms that are not universally recognized.

Scientific nomenclature

The scientific names of genera and species should be written in italics. When they mention the first time, they are placed complete, even in the title and the summary, only to be used later the initial letter of the genre in capital letters, followed by the full name of the species in italics.

Regarding the decimal figures, comma (,) should be used in the case of written contributions in Spanish and period (.) in those written in English. In the case of units of one thousand should be used a space and not a period or a comma. When numbers ranging from 0 to 9 are mentioned, they should be written in letters, exception of those that indicate decimals, percentage or metric units.

Units

The measurements must be expressed in units of the metric system; a space is left between the number and the unit of measurement and should not point after the abbreviation (15 m, 10%, 20 ° C, 7 kg). The units of abbreviated measures should only be used when preceded by numbers.

Formulas

  • Mathematical equations should be written as editable text and not as images. Give the meaning of all the symbols immediately after the equation in which they are used for the first time.
  • For simple fractions use the symbol “/” instead of the horizontal line; For example: instead of
  • The equations explicitly referenced in the text must be numbered consecutively on the right side, in brackets.
  • The level of statistical significance must be indicated by the letter "p" lowercase and without space between the sign and the value of significance. Example: p <0.05.

THE EVALUATION PROCESS

The evaluation process begins at the moment in which the author and his article comply with the preliminary evaluation guidelines set out in the authors guide, which must be adjusted by 90%, consequently, if they do not comply with the guidelines, they may be rejected. In the case of those articles that require minor adjustments (Author's Guide), the article will be sent so that the author can apply the corresponding guidelines to it, this period should not be longer than 15 business days. Once the guidelines are met, the Editorial Committee will evaluate the relevance of the article. To then select the evaluators.

The postulated articles will be evaluated by national and international anonymous peers (preferably outside the publishing institution), experts in the specific topic of the article to conceptualize the work considering the following criteria:

  • Internal coherence of work.
  • Quality and coherence of speech.
  • Domain of knowledge, quality or academic level.
  • Contribution to knowledge.
  • Contribution to future research.
  • Originality and scientific quality.

The evaluator will issue his concept in the article evaluation format, where he will rate each of them aspects such as Excellent (E), Good (B), Regular (R) or Deficient (D), and will emit the following concepts: i) publishable without modifications, ii) publishable with slight modifications, iii) publishable with substantial modification and iv) not publishable. In addition, the evaluator, if considered necessary, may add observations and recommendations in additional formats or sheets.

In case a positive and a negative evaluation is presented, the article will be sent to a third pair to define its status (Table 2).

Table 2. Concepts of evaluation by pairs.

Source: own elaboration.

Evaluation times. The time between the selection of the evaluators and the acceptance or delivery of the concept takes place in an average time of six (6) months. However, this period may be shorter or longer, depending on the availability of the reviewers and other factors that may delay or accelerate the process. The journal will only send the authors an official communication about their article, once it has a decision-making result of the evaluator.

When the evaluator issues a concept of publishable with substantial modifications, the authors must make and send those corrections in a time of eight (8) days. When the concept is published with slight modifications, the maximum time to make corrections and send is four (4) days. All these times counted from the date of note of notice to the author.

Criteria of ethics against plagiarism:

All the works that are accepted for application will be reviewed with the Turnitin software available in https://www.turnitin.com/?svr=320&session-id=&lang=en_us&r=0.710538728619525. To be published, the postulated articles must have a maximum of 25% similarity index in Turnitin.

The journal declares that it is considered an unacceptable conduct to discover that plagiarism or self-plagiarism of research work is carried out. Since the originality and the unpublished condition of the works is a fundamental requirement. The authors therefore sign a letter guaranteeing what:

  • No conflict of interest.
  • There is ethics in the design of studies.
  • Compliance with ethical standards is ensured for the review.
  • There is originality of the publications and the policy of the journal against plagiarism is accepted.

Instances that constitute plagiarism:

a. Direct plagiarism, when:

  • Authorship is omitted or the glossed is not cited
  • Minimal changes are made in the text of a third party and is presented as original.
  • Although authorship is noted, plagiarism is presented because the original text is reproduced with a few changes that do not constitute paraphrasing.

b. Complex plagiarism is incurred when there is an original reference of authorship, but they are indicated with inaccuracy the pages of the source.

c. Paraphrasing as plagiarism occurs when paraphrasing and not referencing the original source. Paraphrasing is not considered plagiarism when it does not dominate over the work of the writer, it is used to allow the author to interact critically with the views of another person, and the source correctly.

d. "Self-plagiarism" or recycling fraud occurs when you change the appearance of a job and you Presents as if it were a different one or omits the indication that the work is being recycled.

Procedure in case of plagiarism:

If plagiarism is detected, the journal informs the authors of the plagiarism detected and will be asked for a response.

If the answer is not satisfactory, the manuscript will not be submitted to external evaluation and the journal will not receive more articles by the authors. In serious cases, in the opinion of the editorial committee, the medium in which the Original article plagiarized (whether it is auto plagiarism or copies of third parties).
