Abstract

Corporate governance is a crucial issue in the functioning of companies and has been the subject of interest in numerous studies in recent decades. The topic is recognized as fundamental to ensure transparency, responsibility, and business ethics. Proper implementation may enhance decision-making, protect shareholder interests, and promote long-term sustainability. Purpose: Despite the significant body of literature and growing interest in the subject, no document was found that developed a bibliometric analysis of areas of interest and research trends in the sample included in this study. Methodology: A bibliometric analysis, areas of interest and research trends in scientific production was carried out in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The bibliometric results of the 280 resulting documents were processed using platforms and software such as RStudio and VOSviewer. For the analysis of areas of interest and trends, the Tree of Science algorithm was used. Findings: Among the main findings and as lines of future research, three clusters related to corporate governance were identified: organizational performance; sustainability and stakeholders; and strategic decision-making.
