Abstract
Abstract This research aims to assess factors that explain the expansion of the urban area of the northwest Metropolitan Area of Mexico from 2000 to 2005 period, through the identification of urban AGEB in which the urban expansion was done and the evaluation of explanatory variables which allow to evaluate the effect on its dynamics. The results show 3 variables that have a direct linear relationship with the phenomenon of urban expansion in 2000 and 2005, these are: i) young homes, ii) availability of water in the house and III) the surrounding density. In a panel model, two more variables are identified than the transverse: IV) overcrowding and V) computer changing their coefficient in the time. This study provides evidence to be included in the analysis of urban expansion, other dimensions of observation as the demographic transition and the spatial interaction. This journal provides an open access to its content, based on the principle of offering the public free access to research, helping to increase global knowledge exchange.
