Abstract
Abstract This paper attempts to bring elements of study on the interrelation of Intellectual Property Rights and Biodiversity and its effects in the Andean area. Like that arises from the world-system theory, the application of Intellectual Property Rights legitimizes misappropriation of knowledge and resources related to biodiversity, generating a clash of interests between the peripheral countries and from the center. This journal provides an open access to its content, based on the principle of offering the public free access to research, helping to increase global knowledge exchange. Likewise, the printed version is freely accessible and has no associated costs per publication.
