Abstract

abstract In the classic tradition of capitalism economy it was considered governed by the market, so that an "invisible hand" fit in balance supply and demand and any state intervention only managed to generate a distortion. Two centuries ago, the standard of conduct of business was to minimize costs and to get the long hours and the work of children and pregnant women, were common. A long process of social struggle was necessary to achieve regulation of the workday, establish systems of social protection and workers' organizations be responsible for ensuring the rights of workers.
