Condición post‑COVID: heterogeneidad terminológica e implicaciones para la investigación

Resumen
Las consecuencias para la salud que persisten más allá de la fase de infección aguda de COVID-19, denominada condición post-COVID-19 (CPC), varían ampliamente y representan una importante carga para la salud pública. Sin embargo, su fisiopatología aún es poco conocida y no existen tratamientos eficaces. La investigación sobre la CPC crece; sin embargo, carece de una definición globalmente aceptada, lo que genera dificultades importantes para la investigación y la interpretación de los resultados. Abordar estos desafíos metodológicos y conceptuales es esencial para acelerar la comprensión de los mecanismos de la CPC y guiar el desarrollo de intervenciones efectivas.
