Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the results of the bioarchaeological analysis whose goal was to generate knowledge dealt with the organization of daily activities among the hunter-gatherers buried in the Lower Unit of the Chenque I Site (Lihué Calel National Park, La Pampa province, Argentina). In order to reach this goal, the sample (n: 16) was broken down by sex and age and analyzed. The major appendicular joints and the spine were examined to identify the distribution, frequency and severity of osteoarthritis and Schmörl nodes, respectively. Data suggested that among the hunter-gatherers buried in this Late Holocene cemetery, different body uses would have existed according to sex and age, although women and men might have shared some of them. Other factors, such as the social role of individuals, could have influenced the organization of activities.
